100% All-Natural Vegan Shampoo in Italy, too!

Ciao a tutti!

vegano etichittoI have been scouring Italy for vegan shampoos. And there are some that I tried that are OK. You just have to look for the “v” symbol, or sometimes the “no animal testing” symbol (however the latter is specifically no animal testing, not necessarily vegan).

Anyhow, NaturaSi is the best place to find natural products, cosmetics, sundries, etc. Some of it is kind of pricey. Farmacie (pharmacies) are usually NOT your best bet, at least I have not had much luck. And they appear to be even more chemically laden than the already chemically laden ones at the supermarket.

What I found tops all of the shampoos. I use farina di segale … ?
Wow, you say, sounds really fancy and expensive, where can I buy it? Any supermarket!
It is rye flour! And so far it’s working out pretty well.

It is 100% natural and vegan!! There are many more “vegan” shampoos on the market, but a lot still have harmful chemicals. Then I got to reading around on the internet for other alternatives to shampooing altogether.

First it was baking soda, which seemed to dry my hair out and make it full of knots. I would use a lemon-juice or apple cider rinse afterwards, but my hair either smelled like vinegar or was too greasy. After about 6 weeks of that, I tried the switch to rye flour.

So far, so good. My hair stays softer, I can wash everyday. The farina di segale should be very finely ground or it may not wash all the way out. That is the only thing I have noticed so far. If you want to do some of your own research, just type in “no-poo” into google or “shampoo natural alternatives” or “shampoo with rye flour” etc. Some blogs I read in Italy claim that farina di ceci (chickpea flour) works wonders, also. I tried that, too and it works just as good — except it was a bit more challenging to rinse out.

There are a lot of blogs out there, in Italian and English dedicated to natural vegan shampooing alternatives anywhere in the world!
